KUDY MAHANTY CHILDREN'S' EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES TRUST (KMCEO Trust), a city based charitable trust was founded in memory of Kudy Mahanty, daughter of Rupa and Niroop Mahanty, with the purpose of furthering college education amongst the meritorious and needy students of Jamshedpur. The Trust would offer the "Kudy Mahanty Scholarships" to deserving candidates to enable them to meet their scholastic goals. 'Furthering Aspirations', is the motto of this trust.

Whilst the Mahantys are the settlers of the KMCEO trust, the Trustees would actually manage all the activities of the trust. To achieve this, the trustees were invited based on their track record in running educational services, or proven entrepreneurial or corporate track records.

Mr. B Chandrashekhar, Vice Chairman of the DBMS group of schools is the President, whilst Dr. Jittu Singh, erstwhile Dean of XLRI is the Vice President. They are joined by Mrs. Mitali Chopra, an entrepreneur as Secretary and Mr. Abhijit Mitra, VP Tayo, and Mr. S Dharmarajan, an industrialist, as Asst. Secretaries. Mr. Subhankar Bhowmick, Managing Director of Sreesubh Financial Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. will be the treasurer and Mrs. Lalitha Chandrashekhar, President of the DBMS group will function as the Assistant Treasurer.

KMCEO Trust's main motto is to serve the educational cause of needy and underprivileged children. Its objectives are therefore to help, develop and encourage the poor and underprivileged children belonging to weaker sections of the society by undertaking appropriate and adequate projects for their education.

The Mission of KMCEO Trust is to perpetuate the memory of Kudy Mahanty by awarding Scholarships to support and guidance to the underprivileged deserving students to continue their education beyond secondary school level to fulfill their educational aspirations and thereby improving the quality of their lives and those around them.

The Mahanty's Other Initiatives

Rupa Mahanty & Niroop Mahanty signed a MOU with JEM Foundation for construction of Kudy Mahanty Auditorium in premises of Jusco School, Kadma, on Friday Feb 17, 2017.

This beautiful auditorium was built and keys were handed over to Chairperson of JEM Foundation and Jusco MD Mr. Tarun Daga and Mrs. Ruchi Narendran on Thursday October 10th, 2019.

This Auditorium has world class standards equipped with state of the art facilities and a seating capacity of 300, built in the loving memory of Kudy Mahanty, daughter of Rupa Mahanty & Niroop Mahanty and it enables hundreds of children in Jamshedpur many of who did not have the facility in their own schools to showcase their talent in past.

With the thought of "Don't give to get rather give to inspire others to give", Mrs Rupa Mahanty spoke about how children in many schools display their flair/talent in open air, under the scorching sun or maybe just under a tin shed.

Kudy Mahanty Auditorium will provide the opportune platform to the talent of many children to showcase their skills, flair and aptitude. This Auditorium is certainly going to help transform their confidence level to maybe soaring new heights.

Mrs Mahanty said that out of the 3 parts of anyone's life which is Learning, Earning and Returning, the part of returning is the most important and this is what inspires her and her husband to do what they do best, giving back to the community they dwell in.

The auditorium aims to fill the need for a state of the art facility primarily for school and corporate functions including reaching out to lesser privileged institutions that have no access to such a facility.

The auditorium which seats 300 has several notable features: it is fully air conditioned, has a controllable sound system, two greenrooms with attached toilets to name a few. The seating is staggered for proper viewing. The acoustical wall treatment and false ceiling assures excellent sound quality.

The other features include built up area of 835 sqm, 6m wide lobby, Stage - 10mx7.5m with proscenium width of 12m, Greenrooms ( 2 Nos ) and Washrooms ( For Male & Female - 2 Nos ) at the backstage, facilities like Ramp, Washroom etc for people with special needs, wheelchair accessibility, separate sound control room for Music System, FDA, etc, state of the art audio visual equipment and system, futuristic and ultra-modern fire hazard detection and suppression system, advanced technology on Safety and Security, dedicated parking area, architecturally designed congestion free emergency exits and scenic landscaping around and in front of the auditorium.

The inauguration and handing over function was attended by Kudy's 87 year old grandmother and family members of the Mahantys who travelled from all over the globe, Tata Steel officials Chanakya Choudhury, JJ Irani, Daisy Irani amongst a house full of appreciative citizens of Jamshedpur.

After inaugurating the auditorium TV Narendran termed the Mahantys as a couple whose smiles brings sunshine in many lives and said there is no better way to remember their daughter.
